To obtain the curricula and licence the teacher will have to attend a 6-day training course spread out over a period of maximum 6 weeks at one of our local Cognitive Training Centers.
Until now, the teachers training chess in a school had to be chess players. A big advantage of the curriculum is that the lessons are compiled in a way that after finishing the training course, a teacher with only limited chess experience will also be able to run a chess class (exercises and solutions are always given in the curriculum).
At the end of the Cognitive Training Course, the teachers will receive 3 diplomas:
- Certificate of attendance– certifying that they have finished the 4point4 Academy Cognitive Training Course.
- Licence to Teach the Curriculum – valid for a year.The teacher will receive the full curricula on a coded USB stick protected by his/her own password.The licence can be renewed every year online, for an administration fee of US$ 30. The renewal is available to active teachers only, and proof that they have been teaching throughout the year must be provided (letter from a principal). This is necessary to ensure the high standards of teaching. Teachers who are “dormant” will have to attend a refresher’s course.
- Level D Certificate of Referee from the IGCA (International Game Club Association, www.internationalgames.org) which gives the teacher the right to act as referee on a school, inter-school, or local level.The teachers can organize tournaments between classes and between schools. Level D can be upgraded later as they gain experience.
